Prestfelde is a happy and flourishing school of over 350 pupils, aged 3-13. The School prides itself on its academic, musical, sporting and artistic achievements, but also on its ability to foster positive attitudes, respect for others and a love of learning in all its pupils.

There are at least two forms in every year group and the School comprises a first-rate team of staff, who are committed to delivering a broad, dynamic and innovative curriculum. High standards are achieved within a nurturing and inspiring learning environment. There is also an excellent learning support department.

Over recent years, the School has seen much development and is today rightly proud of its outstanding facilities including its own newly built Chapel and Theatre, Music School, Dining Hall, Design and Technology Department, Gymnasium, Indoor Swimming Pool, Library, ICT suite, Art Department, two recently converted Science Laboratories, Boarding House, wonderful playing fields and Forest School.

Prestfelde is set in 30 acres of parkland on the eastern fringe of Shrewsbury, the county town of Shropshire. It is readily accessible by road and close to other major towns and cities. Originally an impressive gentleman’s family residence, Prestfelde House, together with Beckbury Villa and Highfield House (and their land), became a school in 1929, and Prestfelde is now recognised as a leading provider of education in the UK.

While Prestfelde’s facilities are second to none among local prep schools, the glory of Prestfelde remains its extensive grounds, unexpected to many visitors – even those who live locally. The more than 60 species of tree within the grounds reflect the interests of a former teacher who planted many of them; they change with the seasons and form a colourful backdrop to this special place.

Prestfelde is a co-educational 3-13 independent Preparatory School, which is a proud member of the Woodard family of schools.

A Prestfeldian Education

Prestfelde pupils learn to appreciate the needs of others and to behave sympathetically. They care for and support each other and forge friendships that last a lifetime.

A Lifelong Legacy

Prestfelde School has taught generations of pupils, many of which return so that they can have their own children and grandchildren taught here too.

A place where happy memories are made, Prestfelde works to the same values as it did back when the School was founded.

Our ever growing 'Old Prestfeldians' Society is a living legacy to the Prestfelde family life that our past-pupils enjoyed.
