Our History
Founded in 1929 by the Reverend G. K. Dovey, Prestfelde Preparatory School is part of the Woodard Corporation of schools, a charity founded to provide high quality education in an actively Christian school environment. Prestfelde is a thriving, fully co-educational school, set amidst 30 acres of beautiful grounds on the edge of Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
A Prestfeldian role model
One of the heroes of the Second World War, Flt. Lt. Eric Lock RAF flew the banner as a former Prestfeldian and was one of the most successful fighter pilots in the Battle of Britain.
He sums up our educational philosophy and is an icon for generations of Prestfeldians past, present and future. His strength of character and confidence in his own ability, helped him to become a respected leader and role model for others.
Pictures of Eric Lock reside in the school and a building dedicated to building confidence and self-believe is named after him, all ensuring that every Prestfelde pupil will always remember him.
Prestfelde is a part of something much bigger...
Old Prestfeldians
We have a large and ever-growing group of 'Old Prestfeldians' that attend our OP events throughout the year. If you are not on our database but would like to be involved, please contact us.
Remain a part of our history
A Prestfelde education can span through generations of a family. Today, we are welcoming 3rd and 4th generation Prestfeldians through our doors. If you have a story to tell, or memories to share please get in touch!
As a Woodard School we encourage diversity, understanding and tolerance and believe it is important to look after the spiritual needs of our pupils, whatever their beliefs.
