Prestfelde has an excellent reputation for developing the creative and musical talents of its pupils.
Our Music and Drama Departments are second-to-none and the children at Prestfelde enjoy expressing themselves through a wide variety of musical and performance mediums. Encouraging greater confidence and an enjoyment of performance, the sky is the limit for our talented stars!
Rising Stars
Utilising Prestfelde's impressive 280-seat Theatre, Prestfelde pupils all get to experience performing in front of an adoring crowd! Encouraged to take part in school productions, children can sing, dance, act, provide orchestoral accompanyment or get involved in the backstage management of a Prestfelde performance. What ever specialism they choose, pupils will be supported by our Teachers who will nuture talent and enable each child to children to discover a passion for performance.
Nurturing a love of music at Prestfelde
Pupils have the use of a modern, purpose-built Music School housing a department which delivers high quality musical education to every child. All instrumental teachers are specialists and every major orchestral instrument is on offer, as well as piano, organ, guitar, drums, saxophone and singing. There is a special emphasis on ensemble playing, with a recorder group and Training Band including children from the earliest stages, leading to the String Group, Brass Group, Jazz Group and a 35-piece Orchestra.
An annual House Music competition pits the four Houses against one another in friendly rivalry with ensembles and choirs vying for supremacy! Regular concerts are given inside and outside the school with more advanced pupils having reached the finals of national competitions.

Time in the spotlight
Our pupils benefit from being able to practice and perform in our own Theatre. Able to accommodate a seated audience of 280 people, the children get to experience the thrill of performing to a crowd.
The Music School
Specifically designed and built for the teaching of music, our wonderful Music School provides an amazing space to learn and perform. Including an IT suite, recording studio and individual practice rooms for one-to-one musical instrument tuition, the Music School is filled with an array of instruments for our pupils to try and specialise in.
