Prestfelde awarded gold school games mark

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the coveted School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year. This is the second consecutive year we have achieved the Gold Award.

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition, school sport and physical education across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. The School Games Mark is an annual award and must be reapplied for each year.

We have, above the timetabled hours for PE and extra-curricular provisions, increased engagement of pupils by creating opportunities to encourage children regardless of their ability, to participate in sport. Opportunities have been optimised for pupils to take part in School Games inclusive competitions, at an appropriate level for the individual, whereby they feel valued as a member of the Prestfelde community.

Fiona Orchard, Prestfelde Head said, “It is with great pride and special thanks to our fantastic games department that we can announce we have been awarded Gold again this year.”

“As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the continued hard work and commitment of everyone at Prestfelde has been rewarded. We look forward to applying once again in 2019.”
