Prestfelde reaches Quarter Finals of National Competition

This year our football teams throughout the school have had a successful season. Our U13 team reached the National ISFA quarter-finals, they were also victorious in the prestigious Shrewsbury school tournament and our U9s won our own Prestfelde tournament in the Autumn term 2021.

Prestfelde U13s reached the National Independent school’s quarter-finals, finishing the season as one of the top eight teams in the country. Beating Kings Chester, Stockport Grammar, Merchant Taylors, and Cheadle Hulme to reach this stage. The quarter-final was a great occasion, with the boys being cheered on by 200 pupils, parents, and former staff.

Earlier in the term, the U13 side won the prestigious Shrewsbury school six-a-side tournament back in September, retaining the trophy from 2019 when it was last played.

Two of our Yr8 pupils, Herbie W and Hugh A have been selected for the U13 Midlands Independent schools’ team; they look forward to playing in a national festival during the Easter holidays.

Two former Prestfeldians who left in the summer have been selected for the National Independent Schools’ team this season.

Hoping to emulate this success in the future, the U9s have had an unbeaten season.

Mr. Newey, Director of Sport quoted “it has been wonderful to see the pupil’s enthusiasm and passion for competitive football once again. To put on their new boots and run around with smiles on their faces, reminds us all why we love this great game. The icing on the cake has been the incredible success of our senior boys, we are very proud of their great achievement”

This will definitely be a football season to remember.
