After a very promising season at the fifteen-a-side version of the game, the 1st VII squad returned victorious from the Terra Nova Invitation Prep School Sevens – the first Prestfelde team to achieve this since 2006.
The boys began with a physical and well controlled 9t – 0 demolition of Rydal Penrhos College, and progressed through the group stages comfortably, disposing of Stonyhurst B team 10t – 1 and Terra Nova 7 – 0. In the final they met Stonyhurst (St Mary’s) A, a well fancied team who went up 3 tries to 1, only for Prestfelde to equalise with the final play of normal time (scored by Tom Morison).
Extra time saw two tries for Prestfelde, including a wonderfully determined effort by Oliver Kidson and a decisive interception by Frankie Jefferies and the trophy was ours again after 12 years. A great confidence boost as the team builds towards the National Prep School Sevens as Rosslyn Park on Friday, 23rd March.
